What is Building Big?

A 5-part miniseries on megastructures, hosted by David Macaulay. The programs – covering bridges, tunnels, skyscrapers, domes, and dams – will air on Tuesdays, October 3 – 31 at 8pm CT/7 MT, with repeats on Sundays at 2pm CT/ 1 MT.

"Virtual Field Trips" of seven Local Wonders – really cool big structures – in South Dakota – hosted on the SD Public Broadcasting Building Big web site.

Engineers in the Classroom – a chance to have an engineer come to your classroom, do fun activities that demonstrate engineering principles, and answer questions about why things don't fall down.

The enclosed pages describe each component of the Building Big in South Dakota project. This project is designed to supplement middle school mathematics, science, and language arts curriculum. However, students of all ages can take advantage of many of the project's activities.
