The Big Stone Power Plant – northeast SD, near Milbank and Big Stone

Big Stone Power Plant

What usually happens when you turn the lights on? The lights turn on. That seems obvious, but where do we get the power to turn on our lights or run our TVs or keep our food cold? One source of electricity is is near the little town of Big Stone, in Northeastern South Dakota. Big Stone Power Plant generates power literally and visually. The six building plant, built in the late 1960s, is made of concrete and steel - 30 million pounds of steel, in fact.
