SD Capitol Building dome – Pierre

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE CAPITOL

Did you know the State Capitol dome isn’t just one dome. It’s actually two domes - one you see inside and one you see outside. The building and the domes have been pretty stable since the Capitol was built - from 1908-1910. The dome gets its black look from the copper sheeting. In 90 years, the dome has never needed a new roof. If only our homes were that reliable.
