2017 NPR Tiny Desk Concert entrant Von Varagon Society is an indie rock band based in Deadwood. The band was formed and is fronted by Monte Amende in 2010. In Spring 2014, the current version of the band began to take shape. Amende writes the material, with lots of input from the bandmates. He tries to make the music thought provoking by making the overall thematic meaning clear, but hopefully leaving plenty open for interpretation. This song, July, is inspired by what Amende thinks is always the most bittersweet month.
