Mitchell’s Dakota Discovery Museum is bringing back its Youth Art Show for Youth Art Month 2016. The exhibit offers students the opportunity to highlight their work in a gallery setting and have it evaluated by professional artists.

Youth Art Month is an annual observance to emphasize the value of art education for all students and to encourage high quality school and community art programs.

Students grades K – 12 who live or attend school in South Dakota, including all public, private, and home school students, are eligible to participate. Entry forms are available online, by calling 605.996.2122, or emailing history@dakotadiscovery.com.

The Youth Art Show will open on February 29 and run through Saturday April 2, at the museum. An artist reception is planned for Saturday, April 2 from 2-4pm. Professional artists will attend to provide evaluation of individual students’ work.

During the exhibition, admission to the museum is free for student artists and their immediate families.
