SDPB Hosts South Dakota Symphony Orchestra Student Composition

Email share

The SDSO’s Music Composition Academies are weeklong intensive composition summer camps in which students work with a team of composers to create their own composition for either string quartet or woodwind quintet. Following the academy sessions, the SDSO string quartet and woodwind quintet rehearses each new composition with the student composers, and performs the works multiple times in Sisseton, Rapid City, Pine Ridge, and Sioux Falls.

SDPB is proud to host the SDSO and Music Academy Students for a free, live public concert of studentcomposed music at the SDPB Black Hills Studio. The performance includes conversations with the students, who will share insights on the creative process behind their compositions.

Saturday, Sept. 21, 3:00pm at the SDPB Black Hills Studio. Free and open to the public.
