College and high school homecoming celebrations are about welcoming alumni back to their alma mater for a parade, football game, and social activities. In South Dakota, like other places, it also means wacky floats, shiny convertibles, and smiling homecoming kings and queens.

This film shows the Black Hills State College homecoming parade of Oct. 2, 1954. Look for members of the Spearfish High School homecoming court as well.
