New Members Join Friends of SDPB Board

A former judge, an arts advocate and a businessman will lend their time and talents as new members of the Friends of SDPB Board of Directors.

Ron Roehr of Milbank served for twenty years as a circuit court judge in the Third Circuit. Prior to his judicial appointment, Roehr practiced law in Milbank. Roehr is a graduate of Aberdeen Central High School and the University of South Dakota School of Law. He and his wife, Janet Wise, live in Milbank.

Sue Gates has been the director of Dacotah Prairie Museum in Aberdeen since 1995. Gates received her bachelor of music degree with emphasis in fluTe performance from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. Gates is a member of many community music ensembles and serves as assistant music director at Zion Lutheran Church, where she is also president of the church council. She is a staff member, ensemble accompanist and flute instructor for Rushmore Music Camp, and serves as vice president on both the Bethesda Home Foundation Board of Directors and the Aberdeen Public School Foundation. Gates is the recipient of many community awards, including the Outstanding Arts Supporter Awarded from the Aberdeen Arts Council. In 2013, she was inducted into the Fine Arts category of the Aberdeen Central High School Hall of Fame.

Lon E. Stroschein was born and raised on a farm near Warner, South Dakota. He graduated with a business degree from SDSU in 1999 and spent the next five years as a U.S. Senate aide. After five years in the real estate lending division of the banking industry, Stroschein joined Raven’s Applied Technology Division as International Sales Manager. In November 2015, Stroschein was promoted to Raven’s first Director of Corporate development, where his focus is on strategic mergers and acquisitions. He currently serves on the Sioux Falls Regional Airport Authority board of directors and the Sioux Falls Chamber’s Community Appeals Committee.
