South Dakota State University has a new Men’s Basketball Coach. The school has introduced Iowa State University Assistant TJ Otzelberger as the new head of the Jackrabbits’ program. The 38-year-old Otzelberger grew up in Milwaukee, and played at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He says he is already setting high expectations in Brookings.

“Why can’t we create an unparalleled experience for the student-athletes who come through our program," asks Otzelberger. " Why can’t we expect to compete for a conference championship every year? Why can’t we set a goal to play in the NCAA Tournament, every year? Why can’t we expect to have a sell-out crowd at Frost Arena when we take the court? Why can’t we strive for excellence in the classroom—team GPA above 3.0, and graduate all the students who come through our program. Why can’t we prepare our student leaders to be excellent leaders and citizens in the community? The fact is—we can, and we will.”

Otzelberger replaces Scott Nagy, who left SDSU last week to become head coach at Wright State University in Ohio.
