28th Annual All-State Jazz Band Concert

The 28th annual South Dakota All-State Jazz Band Concert will be held at the Aberdeen Central High School Theater in Aberdeen on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Each year, the All-State Jazz Band brings together South Dakota's most talented high school instrumental jazz musicians and provides an opportunity for students to practice and perform under the direction of conductors who may be recognized around the world. The students participating in the 2016 All-State Jazz Band were selected through statewide competitive auditions. The 2016 All-State Jazz Band is made up of 48 students from 21 high schools.

The members of the All-State Band have been divided into two equal big bands, and a jazz combo, with each group being directed by its own guest conductor. William Flynn, guitarist from Kansas City, and Adam Meckler, trumpeter from Minneapolis, will each conduct a big band. The jazz combo will be conducted by Bob Reynolds, saxophonist with Snarky Puppy and John Mayer.

The All-State Jazz Band will perform on Saturday, May 7th beginning at 7:00 p.m. The doors to the concert will open at 6:00 p.m. All tickets for the All-State Jazz Band Concert are general admission. The ticket price will be $12 for adults and $7 for high school and elementary students.

Also, the concert will air for television on Saturday May 28 at 8 pm CT - exclusively on SDPB1-TV.
