Sanford Pentagon Set To Host Third Annual Barefoot Classic

The Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls will host the third annual Samaritan’s Feet Barefoot Classic event on Saturday to help raise awareness for the Samaritan’s Feet organization.

During the event, coaches will have the option to go barefoot if they choose.

Since its inception in 2003, Samaritan’s Feet has reached people in need in “more than 90 countries and 350 U.S. cities.”

This year, the Barefoot Classic boys basketball event consists of eight games, and includes fourteen teams from South Dakota (Class AA, A, and B).

It will also have representation from Minneapolis North in Minnesota and Sioux City North in Iowa as well.

Game Schedule (all games are Central Time)

10:30 am – Waverly South Shore vs Mt. Vernon – Plankinton

12 pm – Viborg-Hurley vs Bon Homme

1:30 pm – Tri-Valley vs Parkston

3 pm – Langford vs Lower Brule

4:30 pm – Dakota Valley vs Irene-Wakonda

6 pm – Little Wound vs Elk Point Jefferson

7:30 pm – Sioux Falls O’Gorman vs Sioux City North

9 pm – Tea Area vs Minneapolis North

According to Manny Ohonme, who is the founder of Samritan’s Feet, and a member of the Sanford International Board, nearly seven million pairs of shoes have been given to those in need since the organization was founded.

This is the third year that Sanford Health has partnered with Samaritan’s Feet to put on the Barefoot Classic event.
