2008 SDPB Contest Honors Young Writers, Illustrators
South Dakota Public Broadcasting sponsored the Reading
Rainbow’s 14th Annual Young Writers and Illustrators Contest in 2008.
This
contest is a unique and exciting opportunity for students in kindergarten
through third grade write and illustrate their own stories.
SDPB has sponsored the South Dakota division of the Young Writers and
Illustrators Contest since 1996.
The contest encourages,challenges, and rewards
students to tell their own stories in their own words and with their own
pictures.
Contest judges are teachers, writers, artists, librarians, and others
who know writing and illustrating.
All students who enter the contest received a Certificate of Achievement
from “Reading Rainbow”, and the first, second, and third
place winners from each
grade will be presented with prize packages at an awards celebration at the SDPB
studio.
Additionally, SDPB will use each winning story in the “Dakota KidStories”
program to be televised in Summer 2008.
