On this edition of Innovation, Jill Weimer, associate scientist and co-director of the Promise Program joins Liz McMillian, the curriculum education coordinator; they discuss providing science and outreach education to communities. Also, Sanford CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft takes Cara Hetland into the lab to diagnose Type One and Type Two diabetes.
Next, Dr. David Pearce is the vice president of research at Sanford Health. He hosted the first lecture in a series open to community members.
And, Charles Michael Ray talks with Dr. Jim Stone who is a professor of Environmental Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Stone is involved in several major research projects in the state including environmental testing for pollution from gold and uranium mines, testing for mercury in South Dakota's lakes, and examining the environmental impacts of antibiotic type chemicals used in feed lots.
