South Dakota Focus Missouri River Flooding Update

On SDPB's 2011 season premiere of South Dakota Focus we take a look back of the historic flood of the Missouri River this past year. Governor Dennis Daugaard along with other state officials talk about how flood waters caused havoc for communities up and down the river and what is being done to prevent future disasters. We'll touch on how clean up plans are going and what help is available for those who lost so much due to flood waters.

People who lost jobs or income because of the floods may be eligible for aid, including the self-employed, farmers, farmhands, and others who normally would not qualify for unemployment assistance.

After people have registered with FEMA, they may want face-to-face help with paperwork, answers to questions about disaster help, or general information about rebuilding and repair. They can get this at either of two Disaster Recovery Centers:
