What is a Science Café, you may ask?
Sponsored in South Dakota by South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Science Cafés typically meet in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Attendees can enjoy drinks or food items while they participate in the Science Café event. A few trivia questions and a short video clip from NOVA scienceNOW may kick off the event. This is followed by a 20-30 minute presentation from a guest scientist to get conversation on the topic rolling. After a short break, the whole room gets involved in the discussion with a question and answer period. The Science Café ends with some drawings for door prizes from SDPB.

The SDPB Science Café moderator is Cara Hetland, SDPB Radio’s News Director and host of the Innovation series on SDPB Radio on alternate Fridays at Noon (11 MT).
