House Judiciary

There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2003 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:45am in room 464 of the Capitol.

HB 1049 - invest the court with discretion to provide for the overnight supervision of juries.
HB 1053 - provide for the centralization and computerization of certain jury selection processes.
HB 1052 - provide for the accommodation of both electronic and manual jury draw processes.
HB 1055 - revise the authority of magistrate courts and to revise certain provisions pertaining thereto.
HB 1050 -  repeal certain provisions investing magistrates with coroner duties.
HB 1048 - make threatening court services officers a crime
HB 1051 - make sliming court services officers or employees a crime.

HB 1019 - permit disclosure of certain information related to intentional exposure to human immunodeficiency virus.
HB 1060 - require annual reregistration of certain sex offenders.
HB 1061 - provide for the crime of bestiality and to prescribe certain penalties therefor.
HB 1055 - revise the authority of magistrate courts and to revise certain provisions pertaining thereto.

SB 22 - authorize a parent to appear in person, by counsel, or by telephone for a hearing to voluntarily terminate parental rights.
HB 1057- provide victims of crimes the right to copies of certain law enforcement reports
HB 1059 - limit the amount of a superseded  as bond that must be posted to stay the execution of a judgment while an appeal is pending.
HB 1066- provide for a fee for an amendment or cancellation of a statement of qualification for a limited liability partnership
HB 1086 - revise the exception for a patient's privilege on confidential communications with physicians and psychotherapists.

HB 1102 - revise certain provisions regarding the collection of personal property by affidavit.
HB 1113  - revise provisions relating to third offense assault.
HB 1117  - provide for the enforcement of foreign domestic violence protection orders.
HB 1119  - revise certain provisions related to the arrest of a spouse for abuse.
SB 21 - revise the requirements for service of a notice of entry in an action involving abuse or neglect.

HB 1143 - revise the amount at which a child's medical costs trigger apportionment between the parents in proportion to their support obligation.
HB 1150 - provide for the amendment and cancellation of certain limited liability partnerships.
HB 1114 - clarify certain provisions concerning the residency requirements for state's attorneys in certain small counties.
HB 1184 - revise fees concerning the garnishment of wages.
HB 1187 - prohibit the use of scanning devices or re-encoders to defraud and to provide a penalty therefor.

HB 1146 -limit a perpetrator's right to recover for injuries received in the course of committing a crime and to revise the definition of crime.

HB 1153 - revise certain provisions pertaining to the possession of marijuana.
HB 1258- revise certain provisions regarding attorney fees and costs in Public Utilities Commission proceeding and appeals.
HB 1144 - broaden application of drug free zones to include additional offenses and provide for penalty enhancements.
HB 1187-prohibit the use of scanning devices or reencoders to defraud and to provide a penalty therefor.

HB 1160- revise the maximum penalty for manslaughter in the second degree.
HB 1272- permit the court to suspend certain mandatory jail sentences for DUI offenses on condition that the offender submit to certain drug treatment and testing.
HB 1275- provide for an exception from certain child abuse reporting provisions based on privileged clerical communications.
SB 74- revise certain transcript fees.
HB 1260 - revise certain provisions relating to the release of satisfied liens and to provide an additional remedy for the unjust failure to do so.
