There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2003 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet Monday and Wednesday at 10am in room 464 of the Capitol.

Legislative Day 2 1/15/03 - complete meeting Legislative Day 6 1/22/03 - complete meeting HB 1022 - revise the registration validation decal and boat numbering display requirements for certain boats. HB 1023 - property damage reporting in a snowmobile or boat accident and bodily substance chemical analysis. HB 1037 - revise the seating capacity of a motor bus for vehicle registration purposes. HB 1038 - exempt vans owned by churches from vehicle license fees. Legislative Day 9 1/27/03 - complete meeting HB 1072 - operation of a vehicle upon the approach of emergency vehicles SB 42 - transportation of hazardous materials Legislative Day 11 1/29/03 - complete meeting HB 1092 - add a section of highway located in Turner County and McCook County to the state trunk highway system. Legislative Day 14 2/3/03 - complete meeting HB 1101- revise the time period certain oversized motor vehicles may operate each day under a permit and to increase the cost of the permit. HB 1126 - require evidence of financial responsibility at the time of motor vehicle registration and to provide for the suspension of vehicle registrations. Legislative Day 16 2/5/03 - complete meeting HB 1136 - revise the requirements for a damage disclosure statement for motor vehicles. HB 1165 - require all passengers in passenger vehicles to wear seat belts. HB 1169 - add a section of highway in Minnehaha County to the state trunk highway system. HB 1217 - authorize certain haulers of baled garbage to receive an oversize vehicle permit. Legislative Day 19 2/10/03 - complete meeting HB 1167- provide for a driver license suspension and a civil penalty for certain thefts of gasoline. HB 1168- require the use of an ignition interlock device in motor vehicles used by certain persons guilty of a second violation of driving under the influence and to provide for certain penalties with regard to ignition interlock devices. HB 1174 - provide a weight tolerance for ice or snow buildup on vehicles. HB 1198- require seat belts on certain school buses. HB 1218 - repeal the prohibition on certain objects dangling between a motor vehicle driver and the vehicle's windshield. Legislative Day 21 2/12/03 - complete meeting HB 1253- require changes in the motor vehicle reciprocity agreement with Minnesota. HB 1225- expand the range in which farm vehicles are granted a limited exemption from highway weight restrictions. HB 1227- revise certain provisions regarding the information displayed on a noncommercial motor vehicle license plate. HB 1264 - provide an exemption to the axle and weight limits if the total gross weight of a vehicle is within the maximum limits. HB 1218- repeal the prohibition on certain objects dangling between a motor vehicle driver and the vehicle's windshield Legislative Day 25 2/19/03 - complete meeting. SB 101- authorize a motorcycle to display a blue light as part of the vehicle's rear brake light. SB 94- change the auction agency license plate fee Legislative Day 28 2/22/03 - complete meeting. SB 115 - provide for a converted motor home title for certain motor vehicles SB 120 - revise the amount of time allowed for holders of title or lienholders to reclaim certain abandoned, impounded, or junk motor vehicles Legislative Day 29 2/24/03 - complete meeting. SB 119 - require owners of abandoned vehicles to pay for certain towing and storage expenses and to provide a penalty for the intentional abandonment of certain motor vehicles Legislative Day 31 2/26/03 - complete meeting. SB 95- revise the circumstances in which motor vehicle lamps are required to be in use.
