There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2003 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Education Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 7:45am in room 423 of the Capitol.

Legislative Day 3 1/16/03 - complete meeting Legislative Day 5 1/21/03 - complete meeting  SB 6  -appropriate money for state aid to education. Legislative Day 7 1/23/03 - complete meeting SB 38  - require participation in the national assessment of educational progress. SB 39 - revise the assessments required in public schools, the grades to be assessed, and to declare an emergency. SB 40 - establish a statewide accountability system for public schools. Legislative Day 12 1/30/03 - complete meeting SB 71 - provide for the certification of school administrators. SB 86  - revise certain provisions regarding reduced tuition for state employees. SB 89  - reward certain eligible teachers for performance. Legislative Day 15 2/4/03 - complete meeting SB 91- revise the minimum age requirements for enrollment in kindergarten and first grade. SB 112 - authorize certain school district capital outlay fund transfers. SB 113 -revise reserve fund criteria for reducing state aid to education for certain school districts. SB 114 - revise the amount of state aid to education to certain school districts with declining enrollments. Legislative Day 17 2/6/03 - complete meeting SB 118- provide for certified counselors in schools. SB 157 - clarify and revise certain provisions concerning criminal background investigations of school district employees and student teachers. SB 164 - revise certain school district reserve fund restrictions related to the calculation of state aid to education. SB 114- revise the amount of state aid to education to certain school districts with declining enrollments. Legislative Day 20 2/11/03 - complete meeting SB 170 -increase the per student allocation in the state aid to education formula. SB 209- revise the index factor and the procedure for determining the per student allocation. SB 220 - establish the Dakota Crops scholarship program, to provide for its funding, to make an appropriation therefor, and to declare an emergency. SB 114 -revise the amount of state aid to education to certain school districts with declining enrollments. Legislative Day 22 2/13/03 - complete meeting HB 1068- permit home school students to participate in high school interscholastic activities. HB 1084 - restrict the use of minor adjustments to school district boundaries. HB 1077- repeal the limit on credit hours for certain students. HB 1078 - increase the amount of money that school boards can keep in petty cash accounts. Legislative Day 24 2/18/03 - complete meeting HB 1042 - revise provisions pertaining to open enrollment. SB 220 - establish the Dakota Crops scholarship program, to provide for its funding, to make an appropriation therefor, and to declare an emergency. HB 1040 - define the consolidation of school districts. HB 1041 - revise time spent in conducting teacher-parent conferences and in-service training during the school term. Legislative Day 26 2/20/03 - complete meeting HB 1073- revise certain voting and participation requirements related to bond issues involving two or more political subdivisions. HB 1083- revise certain provisions related to school district boundary changes. HB 1121- clarify certain restrictions concerning sex discrimination in certain employment matters. Legislative Day 30 2/25/03 - complete meeting HB 1083- revise certain provisions related to school district boundary changes. HB 1073- revise certain voting and participation requirements related to bond issues involving two or more political subdivisions Legislative Day 32 2/27/03 - complete meeting HB 1191- reward certain eligible teachers for performance. HB 1205- create a committee to study the issue of school district consolidation. HB 1265- revise certain rules with regard to school social workers.   HB 1083- revise certain provisions related to school district boundary changes.
