Senate Judiciary

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2004 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am in room 413 of the Capitol.

SB 27 - provide that certain provisions regarding the uniform administration of state taxes apply to certain civil and criminal investigations.
SB 56 - provide that certain minors who have been adjudicated for driving under the influence be defined as children in need of supervision.
SB 57 - repeal and revise certain provisions relating to mandatory consecutive sentences.
SB 58 - revise certain provisions regarding the handling of inmate accounts and property to deceased, discharged, and escaped inmates.

SB 56- provide that certain minors who have been adjudicated for driving under the influence be defined as children in need of supervision.
SB 1-provide for a Criminal Code Revision Commission and to declare an emergency.
SB 2- revise the style and form of certain provisions relating to the Department of Corrections and to correct certain errors and omissions.
SB 64-permit the filing of an allegation of habitual criminality after arraignment under certain circumstances.
SB 66 -revise the definition of an abused or neglected child to include exposure to the manufacturing of methamphetamines.

SB 80 - establish a time limit for the filing of a civil action in lieu of a hearing in certain human rights complaints and to permit the disclosure of confidential investigatory materials after a determination in a discrimination proceeding
SB 82 - require prior notice of automatic renewal dates in certain telecommunications contracts
SB 95 - permit the Law Enforcement Officers Standards Commission to refuse certain applications and to revoke certain certifications based on juvenile adjudications and dispositions
SB 115 - prohibit the disruption of or interference with traffic signal prescription systems and to provide a penalty therefore
HB 1054 - revise the allowable share provision of the escrow fund for tobacco litigation
SB 56 - provide that certain minors who have been adjudicated for driving under the influence be defined as children in need of supervision

HB 1055 - revise certain provisions regarding the offense of witness tampering
HB 1025 - authorize the Department of Agriculture to enter into certain agreements for training and for fire prevention and suppression activities

HB 1079 - revise certain provisions regarding preliminary hearings for parole violators

HB 1103: revise certain court automation surcharges.
SB 207: repeal the death penalty and commute certain death sentences to life imprisonment.
HB 1126: allow the prosecuting attorney to sign the summons in a juvenile case.
SB 108: clarify certain provisions concerning the residency requirements for state's attorneys in certain small counties.
SB 107: revise certain provisions relating to the computation of time to be served for the failure to pay certain fines, costs, or restitution.
HB 1122: revise the procedure for registering a business name.

HB 1274 - provide protocols for cardiopulmonary resuscitation directives

HB 1234- an act to correct certain references to certain executive branch agencies

HB 1141 - authorize the service of ex parte protection orders on Sundays and holidays
HB 1130 - revise certain provisions relating to the transfer on death or pay on death designations of certain security accounts
HB 1176 - revise the definition of criminal pedophilia
HB 1142 - revise certain provisions relating to the election of the venue for an administrative appeal
HB 1207 - provide that any judgment of conviction indicate whether the charge involves domestic abuse

HB 1074: prohibit the providing of false or misleading information to the Public Utilities Commission and to provide a penalty therefor.
HB 1123: authorize banks to be organized as limited liability companies
HB 1108: revise the definition of unlawful sexual contact.
HB 1184: authorize a payor to make a deduction for transmitting an amount of an obligor's income pursuant to a child support order for withholding
HB 1158: prohibit the taking of certain pictures of another without that person's consent.
HB 1212: extend visitation rights to great-grandparents under the same circumstances as grandparents.

HB 1298: repeal certain provisions regarding implied consent for withdrawal of bodily substances and chemical tests when operating a motor vehicle.
HB 1292: provide for the rescission of a person's privilege to refuse to submit to the withdrawal of blood or urine for driving so as to endanger the life of a child and to provide for a separate misdemeanor penalty.
HB 1275: require chemical tests of drivers involved in accidents resulting in serious bodily injury.
HB 1282: prohibit recovery based on claims resulting from weight gain, obesity, or a health condition resulting from long-term consumption of a qualified product.
HB 1053: increase liquidated court costs.

HB 1298: establish one rate for the telephone gross receipts tax and to provide uniform methods to administer the tax.
