House Commerce

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2006 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Commerce Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 7:45am in room 464 of the Capitol.

HOUSE COMMERCE 5th Legislative Day 01/17/2006 Complete Meeting HB 1046 - provide for certain provisions regarding the property casualty unfair claims practices. HB 1017 - authorize the Public Utilities Commission to implement and comply with certain federal energy acts and to validate certain related commission actions. HB 1027 - change the unemployment insurance wage base and contribution rates and to assess interest on negative employer accounts under certain circumstances. HB 1042 - revise certain requirements regarding the license renewal of insurance producers. HB 1092 - extend certain lien provisions to physicians. 22nd Legislative Day 02/09/2006 Complete Meeting SB 24 - revise certain provisions concerning the authority of the Public Utilities Commission with regard to AC/DC conversion projects and energy conversion facilities. SB 31 - revise certain provisions relating to the licensing and regulation of technical professions. SB 39 - revise certain provisions regarding petroleum and motor fuels testing, quality, and labeling. SB 37 - revise certain provisions regarding fire safety and regarding the authority of the Department of Public Safety to promulgate rules pertaining to fire safety. SB 38 - increase the annual operation certificate fee for certain boilers. SB 40 - revise certain provisions regarding the regulation of weighing and measuring devices and the regulation of service agencies of weighing and measuring devices. 25th Legislative Day 02/14/2006 Complete Meeting SB 200 - authorize the risk pool board to allow additional enrollees into the risk pool under certain circumstances. SB 201 - revise the risk pool reimbursement method for certain health care providers. SB 49 - modify the requirements for health discount plans. SB 44 - repeal certain provisions regarding waiting periods for the filing of insurance rates. SB 45 - modify certain requirements for group health coverage for premature births, congenital defects, and birth abnormalities. SB 46 - clarify the taxes for certain life insurance premiums and annuity considerations. SB 47 - allow health maintenance organizations to rate employer sponsored plans without prior approval. SB 89 - require the Division of Insurance to study the offering of assisted living facility benefits to certain persons with long-term care insurance. 27th Legislative Day 02/16/2006 Complete Meeting SB 81 - prohibit the acquiring or selling of certain communications records. SB 87 - require a broker to obtain written consent to advertise or market property on behalf of an owner. SB 155 - permit salespersons and broker associates within the same firm to form a business corporation or limited liability company under certain conditions. SB 108 - revise certain provisions defining employer contributions that are not deemed to be wages. SB 180 - require consumer reporting agencies to provide security freezes for consumers who are victims of identity theft.
