Senate Local Government 

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2006 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Local Government Committee is scheduled to meet Monday and Wednesday at 7:45am in room 423 of the Capitol.

SB 11 - provide for the use of electronic ballot marking systems and for the appointment of precinct assistants and to declare an emergency.
SB 12 - prescribe the form of certain ballots used in local elections.
SB 3 - revise certain provisions concerning the establishment of representation areas for school board members and determination of vacancies on school boards.
SB 13 - revise certain provisions concerning the publication of facsimile ballots.

SB 118 - revise certain provisions regarding the type of personal identification required when voting.
SB 77 - extend the time between a municipal candidate election and a secondary election.
SB 109 - provide for statewide mutual aid requests among certain public agencies.
SB 97 - allow the governing body of taxing districts to automatically refer a property tax opt out to the voters.
SB 90 - revise certain provisions regarding the approval of plats and the format standards for certain real estate documents recorded with the register of deeds.
SB 146 - update certain statutory references to the South Dakota Firefighters Association, Incorporated.

HB 1001 - revise certain provisions concerning election procedures.
SB 174 - allow certain planted trees to remain in a township right-of-way under certain conditions.
HB 1002 - revise certain provisions concerning the type of documentation required for the registration of voters.
HB 1003 - revise certain provisions concerning absentee voting.

HB 1078 - revise certain provisions concerning the bonding of township clerks and treasurers.
HB 1056 - permit municipalities to delegate to employees the authority to enter into certain contracts on behalf of the municipality.
HB 1077 - authorize water user districts to establish and operate wastewater systems.
HB 1121 - revise notification requirements for certain planning and zoning changes.
HB 1068 - require the names of certain parties to be listed in instruments recorded by the register of deeds.
SB 195 - permit certain municipalities to provide to residents of sanitary districts upon petition.
19th Legislative Day

HB 1077 - authorize water user districts to establish and operate wastewater systems.
HB 1161 - provide additional methods for the formation of special zoning areas.
