House Commerce

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Commerce Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10am in room 464 of the Capitol.

HOUSE COMMERCE 4th Legislative Day 01/12/2007 Complete Meeting 6th Legislative Day 01/17/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1039 - increase certain fees relating to the Board of Barber Examiners. HB 1040 - repeal the manager license, revise the requirements for a salon license, and revise the requirements for an instructor license with regard to the practice of cosmetology. HB 1041 - revise the fees for cosmetology, nail technology, and esthetics. 8th Legislative Day 01/19/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1051 - revise certain requirements regarding the licensing of insurance producers. HB 1052 - revise the requirements for coordination of benefits between health plans. HB 1053 - provide certain standards for health maintenance organizations in individual health insurance. HB 1054 - revise certain requirements for the independent audit of insurers. 9th Legislative Day 01/22/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1099 - authorize certain domestic limited liability companies and partnerships to be registered agents of foreign corporations. HB 1089 - define the term, consideration, as it relates to the payment of fees for certain transfers or exchanges of real property. SB 49 - revise certain provisions relating to the Board of Counselor Examiners' authority to promulgate rules regarding marriage and family therapy. SB 66 - include additional professions and occupations within the child support collection process. 11th Legislative Day 01/24/2007 Complete Meeting SB 23 - revise certain exceptions from the definition of unsolicited telephone calls. SB 24 - update certain citations to federal regulations regarding the pipeline safety inspection and to revise certain provisions regarding the assessment of pipeline inspection fees. 13th Legislative Day 01/26/2007 Complete Meeting SB 35 - revise certain provisions relating to the licensing and regulation of technical professionals. SB 38 - define expansion of an existing building or structure for purposes of the tax refund program for the construction of agricultural processing and new business facilities. SB 39 - provide claims information to commercial property casualty insureds. 14th Legislative Day 01/29/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1155 - revise certain provisions concerning wholesale drug distributors. HB 1129 - provide for the conversion of certain cooperatives into business corporations. HB 1114 - allow postsecondary technical institutes to engage in business-type activities. HB 1162 - revise certain provisions relating to the sales and distribution of tobacco products. 18th Legislative Day 02/02/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1137 - prohibit certain money lenders from providing a subsequent short-term consumer loan without some intervening time. HB 1172 - clarify certain limits placed on persons lending money. HB 1257 - reduce the minimum number of board members of trust companies. 19th Legislative Day 02/05/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1282 - provide medicaid coverage to certain families with children who have disabilities under the Family Opportunity Act. HB 1283 - appropriate money to fund the state option to purchase medicaid coverage for families with children who have disabilities under the Family Opportunity Act. HB 1285 - restrict unsolicited commercial electronic mail advertisements. 23rd Legislative Day 02/09/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1294 - establish criteria regarding the construction and sale of certain homes by a state agency or the South Dakota Housing Development Authority. HCR 1006 - Encouraging the Board of Regents to approve the creation of a Mandarin Chinese major curriculum at Northern State University. HB 1162 - revise certain provisions relating to the sales and distribution of tobacco products. HB 1260 - repeal certain provisions regarding the treatment of Indian tribes for purposes of unemployment insurance. 24th Legislative Day 02/12/2007 Complete Meeting HB 1188 - prohibit the recovery of property damage loss for persons not having proof of financial responsibility at the time of a motor vehicle accident. HB 1190 - allow the evidence of the failure to wear a safety belt to mitigate damages under certain circumstances. SB 108 - provide for the continuation of certain health insurance coverage for dependents. SB 165 - repeal and reestablish provisions to regulate mortgage lenders and brokers. SB 10 - revise certain requirements and procedures regarding the one-call notification system for excavation activities. 32nd Legislative Day 02/26/2007 Complete Meeting SB 147 - revise the definition of wages for unemployment insurance. SB 93 - provide for promotional displays by vehicle dealers under certain conditions. SB 80 - increase the fees permitted to recover reasonable costs and expenses on dishonored checks.
