House Local Government 

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Local Government Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10am in room 464 of the Capitol.

HB 1111 - permit local government officials and employees to use electronic payments and to permit the state and its political subdivisions to accept electronic payments.
HB 1110 - increase the fines for certain violations of local ordinances.
HB 1104 - revise certain township powers related to water and sewerage systems.
HB 1109 - revise the provisions concerning the disbursement of money to school districts and municipalities.
12th Legislative Day

HB 1133 - revise certain provisions regarding the expenditure of proceeds from the county wheel tax.
HB 1127 - clarify the authority of county commissioners to set their annual salary.
HB 1115 - authorize a county auditor to raise additional revenues for education from property taxes due to the results of certain court actions.
HB 1118 - permit counties to sell tax certificates.
HB 1121 - provide for the purchase, sale, or transfer of certain solid waste or recyclable materials by local government entities and to revise certain provisions related to the operation of solid waste and recycling facilities.

HB 1157 - provide for the participation of independent voters in primary elections.
HB 1130 - increase the level of expenditures that may be incurred before requiring the advertisement for bids for the purchase of materials, supplies, or equipment.
HB 1128 - revise the provisions concerning the accumulation of funds by counties for capital outlay purposes.
HB 1156 - revise certain requirements concerning the pay and qualifications of petition circulators.
HB 1143 - repeal the limitation on liability of local government agencies and their employees for year 2000 litigation.

HB 1193 - revise certain provisions related to the incorporation of municipalities.
HB 1165 - revise certain provisions concerning notice and hearing requirements for vacating a municipal street or alley.
HB 1154 - revise the provisions concerning the addition of noncontiguous property to certain business improvement districts that have a common zoning designation.
HB 1216 - revise the deadline for voter registration before an election.
HB 1182 - revise the petition requirements for the formation of an ambulance district.
HB 1210 - revise certain provisions concerning municipal operating agreements.
20th Legislative Day

HB 1217 - require certain signs to identify polling places on election day.
HB 1224 - eliminate the requirement that an application or request for an absentee ballot be notarized.
HB 1226 - revise provisions related to water project district voter eligibility.

HB 1280 - revise certain provisions permitting decisions of a planning commission to be overruled by other public bodies.

HB 1303 - provide for issuance of certain restricted on-sale malt beverage and wine licenses.

SB 73 - revise certain provisions concerning precinct boundaries and polling places.
SB 6 - revise certain provisions concerning the election procedures for political parties.
SB 87 - permit school district boards to consist of a combination of members who are elected at large and by member representation areas.
SB 81 - remove the reference to party affiliations for independent candidates on the certificate of nomination and the ballot.
33rd Legislative Day

SB 130 - permit the Department of Health to provide an electronic report of marriages upon request.
SB 153 - provide for the suspension of certain county officials pending completion of criminal prosecutions.
SB 82 - revise certain fees charged by sheriffs.
SB 135 - increase the minimum salary payable to county officials, state's attorneys, and sheriffs.
