Senate Ag & Natural Resources

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10am in room 423 of the Capitol.

SB 138 - place restrictions on the use of certain animal traps.
SB 121 - require financial assurances for certain concentrated animal feeding operations for the remediation of potential environmental damage.
SB 127 - require the disclosure of known contamination of waterways on property condition disclosure statements.

SB 102 - establish certain notification requirements related to the use of Roundup Ready alfalfa.
SB 79 - revise the boundaries of the Black Hills Forest Fire Protection District, to authorize the continuation of activities by certain business affected by the boundary change, and to prohibit the discharge of fireworks within a zone adjacent to the district.
SB 145 - provide for the labeling of the origin of certain meat and meat products and to establish related penalties.
SB 167 - revise the daily bag limit for pheasants on private shooting preserves.
SB 194 - provide for the election of the secretary of agriculture.
SB 128 - revise certain provisions related to the Soybean Research and Promotion Council.

SB 188 - prohibit the sale, planting, or harvesting of Roundup Ready alfalfa.
SB 102 - establish certain notification requirements related to the use of Roundup Ready alfalfa.

HB 1020 - permit the South Dakota Department of Agriculture to contract with individual firefighters and support personnel.
HB 1021 - add additional species to those which may be hunted without a license by residents on their own land.
HB 1235 - authorize the trapping and hunting of certain furbearing animals by nonresidents.

HB 1259 - revise certain provisions related to complaints of encroachment by prairie dogs on private land.
HB 1024 - revise certain provisions regarding application for game and fish licenses and preference points.

HB 1136 - allow certain disabled bow hunters to use special equipment to operate the bow.
