Senate Judiciary

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am in room 413 of the Capitol.

SB 49 - revise certain provisions relating to the Board of Counselor Examiners' authority to promulgate rules regarding marriage and family therapy.
SB 50 - revise certain provisions of parole eligibility.
SB 51 - allow the executive director of the Board of Pardons and Paroles to delegate administrative decisions.
SB 61 - include adopted children within certain child support deviations.
SB 62 - allow for the electronic service of orders to withhold income in the collection of child support.
SB 63 - impose a child support collection fee.
SB 66 - include additional professions and occupations within the child support collection process.

SB 74 - revise certain provisions regarding health care decisions for persons incapable of giving consent.

HB 1095 - provide for and revise the wording of certain judicial oaths.
HB 1096 - clarify certain provisions concerning the place where certain trials shall take place.

SB 91 - provide for an order of joint physical care over certain children whose parents exercise joint legal custody.
SB 106 - require certain family members to report sexual abuse to law enforcement authorities, to grant civil immunity for any good faith report, and to provide a penalty for failure to report.
SB 142 - provide for collection of certain workers' compensation defaults by court order.
SB 134 - revise the time when a petition for rehearing of a cause heard on appeal to the Supreme Court may be served and filed.

SB 202 - increase the exemption from process of certain retirement benefits.

SB 146 - allow a person over seventy years of age to establish a permanent exemption from jury service.

HB 1068 - revise the criminal penalty for perjury.
HB 1071 - revise certain provisions regarding the title of initiated measures and the filing of initiated measures.
HB 1078 - allow tribal agencies that provide child welfare services to obtain results from a check of the central registry for abuse and neglect.
SB 168 - revise certain provisions regarding the reporting requirements of the juvenile corrections monitor.
HB 1079 - establish certain provisions regarding the child abuse and neglect central registry.

SB 172 - require that a certain statement of law be read by the attending physician to any pregnant woman prior to performing an abortion.
HB 1102 - revise certain provisions related to the establishment of proof of compliance with applicable standards as due care in certain utility negligence claims.
HB 1152 - revise the procedures for due process regarding the central registry for abuse and neglect.
HB 1153 - revise certain references regarding the reunification of an abused or neglected child with a parent and regarding grounds for termination of parental rights and regarding the operation of the central registry for abuse and neglect.
HB 1161 - revise the elements of the crime of first degree robbery.

HB 1275 - establish a statute of limitations for real estate appraisers and their agents and employees for alleged malpractice, error, mistake, or omission.
HB 1085 - revise certain provisions related to the transfer of title.
HB 1249 - establish the teen court grant program, to require the submission of a report, to provide for its purpose and funding, and to declare an emergency.
HB 1072 - create a statewide 24/7 sobriety program, establish the 24/7 sobriety fund, and to make an appropriation therefor.
HB 1231 - exempt certain wages from claims in bankruptcy.
HB 1194 - authorize the disclosure of certain confidential information when a person who is subject to commitment proceedings has communicated a serious threat of serious physical injury against a reasonably identifiable victim.
HB 1124 - add the solicitation to commit a crime to certain criminal provisions.
HB 1132 - increase the maximum penalty that counties and municipalities may establish for a violation of an ordinance.
HB 1086 - revise certain provisions related to the release of a lien by undertaking.
HB 1108 - revise certain provisions regarding when and by whom chemical dependency evaluations occur after a conviction of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
