Senate Transportation  

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 7:45am in room 413 of the Capitol.

SB 72 - revise certain provisions regarding the liens on vehicles for the costs of removal and storage of the vehicles.

HB 1081 - revise certain provisions to provide that motor vehicle license plates remain with the owner of the plates.

SB 94 - require a motor vehicle manufacturer to reimburse a consumer for excise tax and license and registration fees if a vehicle is replaced under lemon law provisions.

HB 1027 - authorize the issuance of temporary snowmobile permits to residents and to increase the fee for such permits.

SB 191 - provide for the licensing of persons in the business of recycling motor vehicles.
SB 120 - extend coverage of South Dakota's vehicle lemon law to large trucks and semi truck tractors.
HB 1204 - revise fees for renewal stickers that are placed on special motor vehicle license plates for certain military veterans.
22nd Legislative Day

SB 120 - extend coverage of South Dakota's vehicle lemon law to large trucks and semi truck tractors.
HB 1163 - allow certain repossessed motor vehicles to be sold without title in the name of the entity selling these motor vehicles.
HB 1164 - allow auction agencies to sell government consigned motor vehicles on the same day as the dealer motor vehicle auctions.
SB 213 - require a driver or owner of a moped used on a public highway to maintain a form of financial responsibility on the moped.

HB 1183 - revise certain provisions regarding the use of a transporter license plate.
HCR 1003 - To request the Department of Transportation to help promote and help direct travelers to the Oyate Trail.
HB 1164 - allow auction agencies to sell government consigned motor vehicles on the same day as the dealer motor vehicle auctions.
