House Education

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Education Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 10:00am.

HB 1289 - revise the state aid formula by limiting the declining enrollment allowance to only those school districts that lose at least ten students from one year to the next.
HB 1306 - allow certain students to participate in the opportunity scholarship program under certain circumstances.
HB 1288 - allow any school district that qualifies for both the declining enrollment allowance and the growing enrollment payment in the same fiscal year to only benefit from the one that provides the most additional funding to the district.
HB 1254 - create the facility equity fund to assist certain school districts with critical need for capital construction.
HB 1202 - make an appropriation to fund an expansion of Teach for America.
