Senate Health & Human Services

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee is scheduled to meet Monday and Wednesday at 10am in room 423 of the Capitol.  Check the committee agenda

SB 31 - provide for certification of chiropractic assistants.
SB 50 - change the name of the Board of Counselor Examiners.

SB 51 - revise certain terminology, licensing requirements, and procedures regarding the Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

SB 161 - create the South Dakota Boxing Commission and to provide for the supervision of boxing and kickboxing competitions and sparring exhibitions in the state.
SB 130 - provide for a property tax levy to fund the health insurance benefits of school district employees and to create a school district health insurance fund.
SB 164 - clarify the application of certain statutes relative to contraception and birth control.
13th Legislative Day

SB 88 - require abortion facilities to offer sonograms to pregnant women under certain circumstances.
SB 89 - direct the State-Tribal Relations Committee to hold hearings on certain issues related to Native American health care.
SB 200 - establish a statewide trauma system.

SB 112 - revise eligibility requirements for continuation of health care coverage.
SB 129 - revise the grounds for which continuation or conversion is not required for group health policies.
SB 161 - create the South Dakota Boxing Commission and to provide for the supervision of boxing and kickboxing competitions and sparring exhibitions in the state.
SB 114 - allow for risk pool eligibility and rate flexibility for certain health insurance conversion plans.
SB 113 - exempt certain individual health benefit plans from certain premium rating requirements.
17th Legislative Day

SB 132 - clarify provisions regarding the continuation of coverage after an employer ceases business operations.
SB 164 - clarify the application of certain statutes relative to contraception and birth control.
SB 182 - expand the disclosure of inpatient hospital charges and to provide for the development of a system for the disclosure of charges for outpatient procedures.
SB 33 - require hospitals to report certain adverse health care events.
19th Legislative Day

SB 182 - expand the disclosure of inpatient hospital charges and to provide for the development of a system for the disclosure of charges for outpatient procedures.
HB 1052 - define an inpatient hospice and residential hospice as a health care facility.
HB 1053 - place certain substances on the controlled substances schedule and to declare an emergency.
HB 1078 - transfer in the code a section requiring certification for chemical dependency counselors and prevention specialists.
