Senate state affairs  

There are 35 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2008 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate State Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:45am in room 412 of the Capitol.

SB 9 - provide for the disposal of state surplus property.
SB 5 - revise the requirement that the South Dakota Conservancy District pay interest on its bonds semiannually and to revise certain provisions regarding the district's authority to issue fixed or variable rate bonds.
SB 59 - revise certain provisions regarding the South Dakota opportunity scholarship program.
SB 19 - revise certain provisions regarding the duties of the executive director of the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority.
SB 54 - revise certain provisions regarding the duties and reporting requirements for the South Dakota Energy Infrastructure Authority.

SB 75 - establish a residential geothermal heat pump grant program and to make an appropriation therefor.

SB 100 - revise the definition of certain public entities that are prohibited from making political campaign contributions.
SB 4 - revise certain provisions concerning campaign finance reporting requirements and to establish certain penalties.
SB 80 - restrict the release or use of social security numbers by the state and its political subdivisions unless certain security measures are taken.
SB 135 - require that all statutorily mandated reports to the Legislature be provided in electronic form.

SB 165 - provide a preference for residents in competitive bids for certain public contracts.
HB 1261 - regulate the right to carry a firearm on the campuses of public institutions of higher education.
SJR 1 - Proposing a constitutional amendment to eliminate term limits for legislators.
SB 106 - limit state expenditures.

SCR 9 - Urging the use of market-driven upstream carbon offset programs in the development of regional carbon trading systems.
HB 1247 - prohibit certain contract restrictions on the sale of renewable motor fuels by retailers.
HJR 1003 - To propose a constitutional amendment to repeal certain reimbursement restrictions for travel by legislators to and from a legislative session.
HB 1250 - increase the salary for legislators.
HB 1015 - provide for the transfer of the state's interests in the Mobridge National Guard Armory to the city of Mobridge.
HB 1123 - establish a state renewable and recycled energy objective and to provide certain reporting requirements.
