House Ag & Natural Resources

There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2009 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 7:45am in room 464 of the Capitol.

HB 1054 - authorize certain youth licensees who possess a disabled hunting permit to hunt big game animals using a designated hunter.
HB 1052 - define trophy and non-trophy antelope, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and elk, and establish a civil penalty for the unlawful taking of trophy animals.

HB 1051 - make the sale or purchase of lawfully mounted fish an exception to the prohibition against the sale or purchase of fish taken from the waters of the state.
HB 1053 - repeal the prohibition against the resale of certain seized or abandoned property purchased from the secretary of game, fish and parks.

HB 1001 - revise certain provisions related to free access to state parks and recreation areas to include certain persons with disabilities.
HB 1120 - provide for the transfer of predatory animal control, rodent control, and reptile control from the Department of Game, Fish and Parks to the Department of Agriculture.
HB 1004 - provide for the killing of mountain lions under certain circumstances.

HB 1065 - provide for voluntary ownership inspections of horses and mules and to authorize a fee for those inspections.
HB 1064 - revise certain brand inspection provisions regarding authorized bills of sale.
HB 1063 - revise certain brand registration provisions concerning out-of-state brands on cattle sold in the livestock inspection area.
HB 1062 - increase the reward for certain information regarding livestock thefts.
HB 1061 - revise certain brand inspection provisions regarding a shipper's permit.

HB 1111 - clarify and repeal certain redundancies in the provisions relating to the sale of substandard milk.
HB 1106 - deposit money in the permanent school fund based on acres of school and public lands open to public hunting.
HB 1249 - revise certain provisions related to the use of artificial light to spot big game animals.
HB 1141 - repeal certain provisions permitting the payment for lands acquired by eminent domain including the cost and expenses of condemnation proceedings from the Department of Game, Fish, and Parks fund.

SB 51 - provide for a drug screening program for certain applicants and employees of the Wildland Fire Suppression Division.
SB 1 - clarify, repeal, update, and make form and style revisions to certain statutes related to the Department of Game, Fish and Parks.
HB 1093 - revise the boundaries of the James River Water Development District.
HB 1129 - ensure the integrity of pipelines to be used for the transportation of carbon dioxide for the purpose of enhanced oil recovery or geologic carbon sequestration.
HB 1104 - authorize a sentencing court to impose consecutive revocations of hunting, fishing, or trapping privileges under certain conditions.

HB 1071 - revise certain fees, licenses, and other requirements for milk plants and dairy farms.
HB 1070 - revise certain fees pertaining to seed permits and nursery certificates of inspection.
HB 1129 - ensure the integrity of pipelines to be used for the transportation of carbon dioxide for the purpose of enhanced oil recovery or geologic carbon sequestration.

SB 188 - provide for the appointment of members of the State Brand Board by district.
SB 105 - require the State Brand Board to provide certain reports and information and to provide for Senate confirmation for Brand Board members.

SB 53 - modify the type of financial documents required for a grain buyer's license and to declare an emergency.
SB 56 - change certain references regarding a grain dealer to a grain buyer.
SB 55 - revise the requirements regarding the licensing and regulation of grain buyers.
SB 54 - revise how certain rates are determined for grain warehouse operators.
