Senate Commerce

There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2009 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Commerce Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10am in room 423 of the Capitol.

SB 29 - revise the requirements for replacement or discontinuance of group life insurance policies.

SB 25 - revise certain provisions regarding what constitutes an unauthorized insurer and engaging in unauthorized insurance.
HB 1029 - modify the requirements for a filing of a consent to rate for property casualty insurance.

HB 1030 - repeal certain requirements for the filing of annual actuarial certifications.
HB 1027 - provide for certain employer insurance assistance programs.
SB 111 - authorize unemployment benefits for the spouses of certain military personnel.
HB 1047 - increase the membership of the board of directors of the Economic Development Finance Authority.
SB 90 - increase the number of varieties of malt beverages, wine, distilled spirits, liqueur, and cordials that an off-sale alcoholic beverage licensee may offer for sampling in one day.

SB 84 - revise certain provisions relating to collateral real estate mortgages.
SB 178 - limit the amount that may be claimed in liens.
HB 1056 - authorize education programs required by the State Cosmetology Commission to be taught at branch schools.

SB 77 - repeal the maximum number of off-sale alcoholic beverage licenses that may be issued to any person, corporation, or business entity and to establish requirements for physical barriers for certain off-sale alcoholic beverage establishments.
HB 1115 - increase the education requirement for broker associate license.
HB 1116 - require post-licensing education for broker associates.
HB 1114 - allow a broker to form certain business entities under certain conditions.
SB 128 - create a limited electrician license.
SB 187 - allow the merger or consolidation of a cooperative and its subsidiary.

SB 179 - require title insurers to offer coverage for liens filed after certain purchases of real property.
SB 98 - revise the minimum amount required for reporting damage to a motor vehicle and a boat.
HB 1124 - prohibit improper influence regarding real estate appraisals.
HB 1058 - revise certain practice privileges for certified public accountants licensed in other states.
HB 1100 - revise where business records of insurance producers may be maintained.
SB 178 - limit the amount that may be claimed in liens.
HB 1094 - require applicants for licensure as real estate brokers, broker associates, salespersons, property managers, residential rental agents, auctioneers, home inspectors, and timeshare agents and such licensees who are the subject of a disciplinary investigation to submit to a state and federal criminal background check.
HB 1095 - include the improper influence of a real estate appraisal by a real estate licensee to the acts constituting unprofessional conduct.

SB 133 - provide for central filing of documents necessary to perfect a security interest in personal property or fixtures of a rural electric cooperative.
HB 1059 - define and prohibit controlled business in insurance.
HB 1152 - establish certain requirements relating to appraisals of real property by the Department of Game, Fish and Parks.
SB 85 - clarify certain rules of evidence to determine the value of services for which special damages may be awarded in health care malpractice cases.

HB 1049 - revise certain provisions regarding captive insurance companies.
HB 1028 - revise certain provisions regarding the regulation of real estate appraisers and the conditions upon which a penalty may be imposed on a real estate appraiser.
HB 1018 - require a portion of the annual report filing fee paid by certain entities to be deposited in the financing statement and annual report filing fee fund.
HB 1026 - revise certain provisions permitting cities and counties to issue full-service restaurant on-sale alcohol licenses.
HB 1099 - revise certain provisions regarding insurance coverage for residential property that is destroyed while under construction.
28th Legislative Day
02/24/2009 Complete Meeting
HB 1057 - revise the maximum reimbursement for workers' compensation burial expenses.
HB 1205 - permit an applicant for a responsible broker's license to complete the required fifteen hours of education beyond the broker associate level after licensure as a responsible broker.
HB 1050 - revise the annual financial reporting requirements of insurance companies.
31st Legislative Day
03/03/2009 Complete Meeting
HB 1060 - revise certain provisions regarding the mortgage lender business and to provide for fees and penalties related thereto.
HB 1265 - allow sellers to receive attorney fees in actions involving the disclosure statement required for certain real estate transfers.
HB 1268 - revise certain provisions concerning the maximum number of alcoholic beverage retail licenses that may be held by any person, corporation, or business.
33rd Legislative Day
03/05/2009 Complete Meeting
HB 1280 - create reduced ignition propensity standards for cigarettes, to authorize the state fire marshal to monitor such standards, and to provide penalties therefor.
HB 1219 - allow a filing entity or qualified foreign entity to file a short form in lieu of an annual report under certain conditions.
HB 1176 - revise the earnings requirement for the purpose of receiving unemployment insurance benefits.
HB 1264 - provide for the utilization of conditional early release bonds in regard to certain furloughs and paroles.
HB 1212 - revise certain requirements of written contract documents for public improvements.
HB 1275 - authorize electronic bingo devices.
