Senate State Affairs  

There are 40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2009 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate State Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00am in room 414 of the Capitol.

SB 68 - authorize the establishment, operation, and control of research parks on state land in Sioux Falls.
SB 5 - revise the form and style of certain provisions and to delete certain obsolete provisions regarding the Department of Tourism and State Development.

SJR 2 - Proposing and submitting to the electors at the next general election an amendment to Article VI of the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, relating to the utilization of English as the official language.
SB 138 - revise the qualifications for the director and employees of the Division of Veterans Affairs and for county veterans' service officers.
SCR 3 - Supporting a study of the potential creation of a Department of Veterans Affairs as a cabinet-level department.
SB 21 - impose a fuel excise tax on ethyl alcohol and methyl alcohol used in motor vehicles on the public roads and highways, to repeal the fuel excise tax on ethanol blends and E85 and M85, and to revise certain provisions regarding the fuel excise tax.

SB 171 - impose a fee on certain pipelines carrying crude oil and to create a crude oil pipeline compensation fund that may be used in the event of a crude oil spill.
SB 175 - set a maximum limit on certain license and permit fees that may be established by the Game, Fish and Parks Commission.
SB 182 - repeal the methodology that assesses agricultural land based on its agricultural income value, to dissolve the implementation and oversight advisory task force, and to revise certain provisions concerning the assessment of real property.
SB 171 - impose a fee on certain pipelines carrying crude oil and to create a crude oil pipeline compensation fund that may be used in the event of a crude oil spill.

HB 1009 - require certain tax refund claims for construction projects and certain documents and records in support of tax refund claims for construction projects to be filed within certain time periods.
HB 1251 - impose an additional tax on the proceeds of Deadwood gaming.
HB 1129 - ensure the integrity of pipelines to be used for the transportation of carbon dioxide for the purpose of enhanced oil recovery or geologic carbon sequestration.
HB 1276 - revise certain provisions regarding the eligibility for refunds of sales and use tax and contractor's excise tax and to require that certain information related to such refunds be public information.
