Senate Transportation  

There are  40 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2009 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The Senate Transportation Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:45am in room 423 of the Capitol.

SB 30 - repeal the requirement that the Department of Transportation file a copy of the official state trunk highway map with every county auditor.

SB 18 - update certain provisions pertaining to motor carrier safety and transportation of hazardous materials.

SB 9 - authorize certain vehicle parking privileges for persons with disabilities who display Purple Heart special license plates.

SB 79 - provide for the primary enforcement of seat belt laws and to define passenger buses.
SB 103 - provide for the primary enforcement of the seat belt law.

SB 102 - provide for the issuance of limited use stickers for historical vehicle license plates.
SB 129 - revise certain conditions that must be met before an extension of State Highway 53 in Tripp County is added to the state trunk highway system.

SB 151 - provide for a special motor vehicle license plate for parents of members of the United States Armed Forces who died while in service of this country.
SB 119 - revise the authority of the state, counties, and townships to transfer highway right-of-ways under certain conditions.

HB 1133 - authorize certain specialty license plates to be placed on motorcycles.
HB 1023 - authorize the secretary of transportation to create limited speed zones through highway work areas under certain conditions.

HB 1140 - make an appropriation from the railroad trust fund for the construction of a railroad siding.
HB 1214 - remove certain speed restrictions for certain vehicles hauling agricultural products or livestock.
HB 1024 - authorize the Department of Transportation to regulate the operation of off-road vehicles in certain state highway ditches.
HB 1228 - require mopeds used on public highways to be titled and licensed as a motorcycle and to increase license fees for motorcycles.

HB 1121 - establish certain procedural requirements related to the relocation of electrical lines, communication lines, and pipelines.
HB 1281 - enhance funding for state highways by increasing fees on certain signs, displays, or devices.
