House Local Government 

There are 38 Legislative Days scheduled for the 2010 session. Standing Legislative Committees meet in regularly scheduled sessions during the morning hours of each Legislative Day. Some committees will hold special evening meetings. The House Local Government Committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10am in room 414 of the Capitol.

SB 13 - revise certain provisions concerning petitions and elections.
HB 1091 - revise certain provisions related to municipal elections in the case of death or withdrawal of a candidate.

HB 1082 - permit counties to require criminal background checks for persons seeking employment.
HB 1128 - revise certain provisions concerning fire protection services provided through township funding.
HB 1148 - authorize counties to change the method of electing the county board of commissioners to either an at-large or district basis.

HB 1166 - clarify the locations where the local boards of equalization may meet.
HB 1196 - establish a certain distance from the municipality's corporate limits in which the municipality has planning and zoning authority.
HB 1212 - provide counties the authority to acquire, construct, maintain, and operate sewer utility systems.
HB 1214 - allow for the acquisition of the fee ownership of highway right-of way land for certain local governments.

HB 1196 - establish a certain distance from the municipality's corporate limits in which the municipality has planning and zoning authority.
HB 1239 - establish certain procedures for counties to follow when requiring landowners to cut and remove grass, weeds, and brush from the road right-of-way.
HB 1227 - permit townships to enroll in certain health, life, and disability income insurance benefits.
HB 1174 - authorize an increase in the compensation for members of the board of directors of water user districts.

HB 1169 - prohibit businesses and employers from establishing certain policies against the ability of an invitee or employee to store firearms and ammunition in a locked motor vehicle parked on the premises.

SB 141 - establish certain provisions regarding documents or instruments filed with the register of deeds that may contain personally identifiable information and to revise certain format requirements relating to real estate documents filed with the register of deeds.

SB 155 - revise the rules promulgation process for administrative rules with a financial impact upon political subdivisions of state government.
SB 80 - clarify certain conditions of service by elected municipal officials.
SB 79 - revise certain format requirements relating to real estate documents to be filed with the register of deeds.
SB 130 - revise certain provisions concerning the township road system.
SB 104 - revise certain provisions regarding disclosure of public information and public meetings.
