So you want to make your own Facebook video for SDPB's fundraising campaign?

That's so awesome--thank you!

Here are a few hints and tips to get you started:

1. Keep it simple.

Sure, you can go get all the fancy cameras and equipment set up (and if you feel so inclined, please do), but the most important thing about creating a video for a fundraising campaign is being yourself and having fun.  Your friends just want to hear from you personally about why you love South Dakota Public Broadcasting.  So grab your smartphone camera and GO!

2. Grab an assistant if you can.

While you can just hold your phone in selfie mode to make the video, you will find it a lot easier if someone can hold the phone for you.  We'll even help you do it all if you have time to come down to our Vermillion studio!

3.  Write a quick script of what you want to say and practice a few times.

You don't have to give an Oscar-worthy performance but taking time to write down some of the key things you want to say and taking a moment to run through them will help you keep it all straight in your head.  Shorter is better--think of 2-3 points you want to get across (why you love SDPB and why your friends should help being two of the most important) and don't forget to ask for their help in pushing the donate button on the post at the end.  Above all--have fun!

4.  Action!

Don't get flustered if it takes more than one take to get it right.  You don't want to know how many times we redid ours due to flubbing the script and giggling uncontrollably--it happens to the best of us!

5. Upload to your campaign and share away!

Using the instruction on the previous page, upload your video to your fundraiser and share with your friends.  Don't forget to tag the friends you think are most likely to be excited to be a part of it!
