By Eryn ClementA bill that allows townships to provide certain health, life and disability income insurance benefits passed by House Commerce Committee. The bill passed eleven to two. Supporters agree individuals should at least have the availability of benefits. Representative Tim Rounds is a proponent of the bill. He says residents of a township should have the same options as the legislative body when dealing with this matter.“What this bill is asking is for that township the ability to discuss it, to bring it up for action, to vote it up or down as they see fit. There may be one township in the state that would like to do this,” says Rounds.House bill 1147 goes now to the full house for further debate.
