Elsie Meeks is running for election in the South Dakota state House.
Meeks is running as a Democrat for District 27, which is in southwest South Dakota and includes Wall, Kadoka and parts of the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Meeks was previously the USDA Rural Development South Dakota State Director.
If elected, this would be her first time in the Legislature.
