Guys With Guitars played the Matthews Opera House in Spearfish on January 26, 2013. Guys With Guitars is made up of Doug Wood on the six-string acoustic guitar, Darren Frate on the electric bass and Neil Jacobs on 12-string guitar.
Doug Wood has earned the status as one of the premier independent acoustic performers in the country. The Denver-born artist began playing guitar at the age of 12. He met Darren Frate in 1989. The two would go on to form WATTS GNU, an instrumental folk/rock/jazz fusion group. Over the years, Frate has worked with many recording starts like Dickie Betts, Mitch Ryder, Peter Noone, Mark Farner, Martha Reeves and others. Neil Jacobs' Gypsy, Celtic, Balkan and classical influenced 12-string guitar rounds out Guys With Guitars.
This concert featured individual sets by all three performers followed by an encore as a group.
