This week's No Cover, No Minimum Radio comes from the second stage at JazzFest in Sioux Falls where the Blues Bashers played on July 26, 2012. The Blues Bashers features Bobby Berge on drums. Berge was playing with Sioux City band, The Velaires, when he met a young Tommy Bolin in the mid-1960s. Later, Bolin would ask Berge to come to Colorado to join Zephyr. Berge played drums for Bolin for most of the guitarist's career before his death in 1976. Berge still calls Bolin, "one of the greatest." Some 30 years later, Berge hooked up with Jesse Christen of Huron. It's Christen's melodic, dynamic and emotional approach that plays a huge role in the Blues Bashers sound. Berge and Christen were joined by Mike Anderson of Worthington, Minnesota, on bass guitar at last year's JazzFest as the Blues Bashers performed as a trio.
