A South Dakota nonprofit is organizing several hunts as part of an effort to get more veterans in touch with the outdoors.
Warriors Never Give Up is an organization dedicated to serving veterans and helping them find healing by way of nature.
Will Hangman is the executive director. He says the project is not meant for just South Dakota veterans.
“We’ve served veterans from 19 different states since 2013," Hangman says. "Yes, it’s a South Dakota-based nonprofit but it’s not like we say you have to be a South Dakota vet to participate.”
The first of three hunts takes place this weekend in Wessington Springs. The second one is the following weekend in Henry. The final hunt is next month in Harrold. For more information go to warriorsnevergiveup.org.
