The Black Hills National Forest hosts its first Moon Walk of the summer on June 22.
The forest service hosts moon walks once a month to take hikers along a guided hike while learning about natural and cultural resources in the Black Hills.
This first walk this year is a drive along Spearfish Canyon. Staff aim to help participants learn how to make viewing wildlife safe for drivers, hikers, and wildlife.
Future moon walks this summer will explore Jewel Cave, prescribed burns, and landslides.
