Saxophonist Brian Hanegan is the Director of Jazz Studies and Assistant Professor of Music at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He directs the Northlanders Jazz Ensemble, Northlanders Jazz Combo, and coordinates the annual Jazz on the Upper Great Plains Festival. He also plays around Sioux Falls with his own groups and joined Jazz Nightly for a live performance with bassist Reuben Rodriguez, drummer Christian DeJongh and Washington High School guitarist Emmanuel Michael.
