Sorum, found in Perkins County in northwestern South Dakota, is but a shell of it's former self. The post office was established in 1910 with Chris Sorum as the postmaster and hence the town name. Once a booming town filled with families and opportunities, it was home to a hardware store, livery, hotel, barber shop, meat market and even its own school.
Today there are a few ranchers and farmers in the area but the old dirt road ends at a pasture gate, surrounded by a few empty buildings. Stay tuned for more from our Vanished South Dakota travels.
