The South Dakota Arts Council is bringing in new artwork for display in state buildings.

The council has purchased 13 pieces from 12 South Dakota artists.

Sarah Carlson is the art program coordinator. She says this program opens the doors for art education throughout the state.

"We’re serving the public in that way-through this entire program. Because it gives people a chance to understand South Dakota and its stories, and also its history in that way.”

All 13 pieces will be installed in state buildings in Pierre by the end of the month. The artworks include watercolor on paper and photography.
