National Spotlight Being Shown On Mike Miller Classic

South Dakota native Mike Miller recently sat down with the Denver Nuggets organization to talk about his legacy of basketball in his hometown state. One of the top points of dicussion was the Mike Miller Classic, a basketball extravanganza in both Sioux Falls and Mitchell, which helps local high school teams showcase their talent against some of the best basketball programs around.

He spoke about the passion of sports in the Mt. Rushmore state.

"For me it's home! The further you get away from it, the more you appreciate what it gave you, the foundation it built for you going forward," said Miller. "But it's also, [the people] love basketball, they love sports. It'll always be home for me."

This year celebrated the seventh annual Mike Miller classic in the state of South Dakota.

Nate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and two kids Braxan and Jordy, live in Canton, SD.
