On Wednesday afternoon, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that second year Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nate Gerry, an alum of Sioux Falls Washington High School and an alum of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, would get the start on Thursday night for the NFL kickoff game against the Atlanta Falcons.
It was also noted that Gerry won the teams overall weightlifting and conditioning award for his off-season work. He’ll get the start at the strong-side linebacker position as Nigel Bradham serves a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on personal conduct.

Last season, Gerry, a fifth round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, saw action in ten games and recorded five tackles and a pass deflection. Even though his playing time was extremely limited, he was apart of a Super Bowl team.
Thursday night will be the first career start for the 23-year old Gerry. The game is scheduled to start at 7:20 pm CT on NBC.
