Following the rejection of a prior proposal, the city of Sturgis is set to host a flat track race during the annual motorcycle rally.
Voters overwhelmingly rejected the previous proposal, which would have had the city paying $653,000 to put on the race and keeping all the sponsorship revenue.
At the latest city council meeting, a new race proposal was unanimously approved. The new plan splits the cost of the race and sponsorship profits between race organizers and the city.
The new plan also has a shortened route, reducing the number of road closures for race day.
The race is scheduled for the last day of the rally, with Fox Sports broadcasting the event live.
