A Brown County official is voicing concerns over the county’s transportation finances.
This comes as the Brown County Commission Board is beginning to field requests for the 2025 budget.
Dirk Rogers is the highway superintendent for the county. He said in Tuesday's commission meeting he is beginning to worry about his department’s budget.
“I do have pretty grave concerns, and I realize the commission is gonna have a pretty hard go this year because you’re gonna get back to where we were seven, eight years ago and you’re trying to decide between people and doing road work. We’re gonna be in a real tough part here going forward,” Rogers said.
Rogers referenced a time when the commission had to deal with budget cuts to the department.
Roger already cut the budget down from $15 million to $13 million. He expects the commission to cut the highway budget down even more.
