Lunch & Learn: Bound and Unbound: 8 Altered Book Exhibition
Lunch & Learn: Bound and Unbound: 8 Altered Book Exhibition
The Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library is pleased to announce a special Lunch & Learn event dedicated to the University of South Dakota Libraries' innovative art series, Bound and Unbound: 8 Altered Book Exhibition.
Community members, students, and art enthusiasts are invited to join members of the USD Libraries Arts and Exhibits Committee for an insightful presentation on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 12:00 PM (Noon) in the library’s Kozak Room.
The program will offer a comprehensive look at the committee's history, tracing the origins and evolution of the Bound and Unbound altered book exhibition series. Attendees will then be guided through a deep dive into the unique works featured in the latest iteration, Bound and Unbound 8.
The altered book format challenges traditional notions of a book, transforming it from a mere container of text into a sculptural object of art. The exhibition celebrates creativity by allowing artists to dramatically reinterpret or reimagine physical books.
The Lunch & Learn will be facilitated by Sarah A. Hanson-Pareek, Program Director of the Digital Imaging Lab, Digital Library, and Photographs at USD.
The Bound and Unbound: 8 Altered Book Exhibition is currently open and on view at the I.D. Weeks Library and will continue to be displayed until January 5, 2026.
This free event is an excellent opportunity to learn about the intersection of literature, history, and contemporary visual arts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.
