The Highway Patrol is planning more than a dozen sobriety checkpoints across South Dakota this month.
These checkpoints are designed to discourage people from driving impaired, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Counties set to see checkpoints in October include Beadle, Bennett, Brookings, Clay, Codington, Custer, Fall River, Jerauld, Lawrence, Marshall, Meade, Minnehaha, Pennington and Walworth counties.
Officials remind drivers impaired driving is never a good idea regardless of whether there is a checkpoint planned in their county.
